MealTracker
Situation
MealTracker’s desktop application, used for all aspects of assisted living facility meal planning, had been in use for years when the company approached Tuitive to design the user interface for the web version of its application. MealTracker was looking not only for an enhanced user interface, but also an improved overall user experience.
“Tuitive's work on the UI of our web application surpassed all expectations. Amazing design, great communication, reasonably priced, and all done in a timely manner. I highly recommend them!”
Process
We spent time using the existing MealTracker application and asking questions of the application team to more fully understand the goals of the end users before developing personas. This application and user research revealed a spectrum of users who ranged from management to nursing aides, from recent college graduates to senior workers, and from high technical skills to nearly zero technical skills. Tuitive’s interaction designer worked with the MealTracker team in weekly meetings to create wireframes that would allow the broad range of users to easily access the information and functionality used daily. We then created a visual design that was attractive but simple enough to not detract from any of the functionality. The simplicity of this new user interface helped to ensure MealTracker users would be able to meet all dietary guidelines, regardless of residents' preferences and medical situations.
Results
Using Tuitive’s design and markup, the MealTracker development team delivered the finished application to Tuitive for a pre-launch usability and user interface audit. Tuitive recommended some changes and delivered some additional design elements. MealTracker’s team is implementing Tuitive’s recommendations before launching the new web application.
